Proto-Hellenic Acropolis – Site “PALIOS”

It is located at the top of the hill of Agia Eleusa and is the oldest precinct in the area. The dating of its construction must go back to the Early Bronze Age (Proto-Hellenic period; 3rd millennium BC), with the possibility of a deviation from this by a millennium younger, which cannot be ruled out without excavation research. A part of the fortification, approx. 30m long, has been preserved. as well as a triangular cut in a rock as a place to deposit an offering or incense for the conduct of ancient sacramental ceremonies. The area is scattered with pieces of proto-geometric cult-burial vessels that come mainly from clandestine excavations. Also of interest is the path that leads from the area of the springs of Kifissos to “Palio”.
