Around 1930 the first bauxite mining started in the area, specifically in Lower Kania, today’s Apostolia. Of these mines, the first tunnels, No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3, still exist. On the slope of the mountain, you can still see the places where the wagons with the ore used to pass by. Until a few years ago, there was also the administration building and the first engine room. Today there is still the water tank, which was used for cooling the engines. Also at the entrance of the village there is the “drawer” for loading the ore.
