In the area of the old church of Agios Dimitrios, built in 1830, excavation findings in 1963 brought to light a Byzantine church of the 5th and 6th AD. century, royal style, [Old Christian Basilica] three aisles. Also, tombs, ceramics, mosaics, pieces of columns, mosaics, capitals, etc., were found. Later scientific research reports that the plan of the monument and other interesting findings confirm that the three-aisled temple was likely built on top of an ancient temple using the oldest materials.
