A continuation of ancient Lilea; it is nestled in the northern foot of Mt. Parnassos among the vegetable gardens and a view of the Kifissos flatlands. (55’ from Delphi, 5’ from Polydrosso). Lilaia is a village that administratively belongs to the Municipality of Delphi. It is built at an altitude of 330 meters in the Kifisos basin near the foot of Parnassos. Its population according to the 2011 census is 332 inhabitants. Until 1920 it was called Kato Agoriani, then it was renamed Lilaia because of the ancient Phocian city of Lilaia that was located in that area. Very close to Lilaia are the springs of Kifissos.
The village suffered great destruction from the German invaders who in October 1943 burned it almost completely, on the occasion of the gathering of American wounded pilots by the residents of the village and by ELAS rebels. Out of the 160 houses that the village had at the time, 150 were burned down while a total of 11 civilians were executed.
