It has an elevation of 2,457m. One of the tallest mountains in Greece. Its mountaintops and slopes carry legends, myths & stories which until today give food to one of the most historical mountains in the country. Over the centuries, its existence has been directly linked with the ancient Oracle of Delphi. A place of worldwide heritage that reigns on its southern slopes at an elevation of 550m and is a large tourist attraction. It hosts the Parnassos Ski Center, which is the largest in Greece. Its rich biodiversity resulted in the foundation of the Parnassos National Park in 1938 that covers an area of 3,513 hectares. Due to its geophysical landscape, it was the epicenter of the Greek Revolution in 1821, while quaint towns and villages “reside” here. So does the unique “paeonia parnassica”.

This legendary mountain gave its name to the northeastern region of the Delphic land.
