Polydroso or Souvala
Polydrosos or Souvala (was the old name of the village where its meaning is a hollow with surrounding mountains – marsh – a lot of water. In 1927 after a Government Decision it changed its name because until then many villages in Greece had foreign names mainly Slavic or Turkish). Kefalochori of DE Parnassos, Municipality of Delphi, Prefecture of Fokida, built on the north-eastern slopes of Parnassos at an altitude of 380m. Its original position was higher up where Ano Polydrosos stands and boasts today. Polydrosos covers all the tastes of every visitor as there are excellent infrastructures for accommodation and catering.
Ano Polydroso
Ano Polydrosos or Ano Souvala is a winter destination as well as a summer resort. The visitor will enjoy the food and his stay in the green forest which is full of firs, pines, apple, cherry, cherry trees, many waters and springs, he will see Panagia the Lady of the Angels or Panagia Kyrgia, the church and source of Agia Varvara where in the church one can see the wood-carved iconostasis which has been crafted by Souvaliota craftsmen and will carry out all the activities mentioned in the above section.
The national trail E22 connects Parnassos with Parnitha, passes by the top of Liakoura Parnassos and descends to Polydrossos. The wild alpine zone is succeeded by the enchanting natural environment of the Parnassos National Park where there is a dense fir forest with thick stands of black pine. It continues through the picturesque Ano Polydrossos and Polydrossos, ending up at the sources of Boiotiko Kifissos.
