Initially it operated on May 8th, Saint John the Theologian, but in recent years it has been established to operate on May Day, while events are also organized. The Byzantine monastery of Panagia Pantanassa is located in a beautiful and green location, a few minutes away from our village. The monastery was built in the 15th century and is one of the monasteries whose monks were martyred by the Turks. In October 1942 it was set on fire by the occupying Italian army and the fire destroyed the complex of cells and the contents of the catholicon, but the Byzantine icons were saved. It is about 5 kilometers from Mariolata, by foot and by dirt road buses.
